Description
The BQ24740 is a high-efficiency, synchronous battery charger IC with integrated loop compensation and system power selector logic, making it ideal for space-constrained, multi-chemistry battery charging applications such as laptops. It offers accurate adapter current sensing (±3%) and input current sensing (±2%), with internal soft-start and safety features like input overvoltage protection (OVP) and reverse conduction protection. Charging parameters, including charge voltage (4–4.512V per cell) and charge current (up to 10A), can be programmed either via resistors or by a system microcontroller using DACs or GPIOs.
Specification
The BQ24740 Battery Charger IC supports 2 to 4 series Li-ion cells, 5–24V adapter input, and includes dynamic power management (DPM) with status indicators. Additional features include low off-state current (10 μA), analog and digital monitoring outputs, and compatibility with various battery chemistries such as Li-ion, NiMH, NiCd, and lead-acid. It is available in a compact 28-pin, 5×5 mm QFN package.
