The RT8878A Charging IC is a highly integrated 4+2 phase PWM controller designed for AMD SVI2-based CPU power management systems. It supports four phases for the CPU core and two phases for the Northbridge (NB), delivering precise and efficient voltage regulation.
The RT8878A includes special-purpose offset adjustment via pin configuration, allowing flexible voltage tuning for different platform requirements. It also provides Power Good indication, Over-Current Protection (OCP), and a dual OCP mechanism to ensure stability and safety in high-load conditions.
In addition, the controller integrates full fault protection features such as Over-Voltage (OVP), Under-Voltage (UVP), and Negative Voltage Protection, making it ideal for high-performance AMD platforms and motherboard VRM designs.
